The mission of BODIROCK PERFORMANCE CREW is:

 

To teach the fundamentals of Hip-Hop Dance, while incorporating the History

 & Culture of the style so the youth can be well rounded in their knowledge

 and technique.  Hip-Hop is more than what’s seen on television and what’s

 heard on the radio.It is a means of self-expression, creativity and a

way of life.

Class/Program Description:

BodiRock Kidz Hip-Hop consists of 4 parts: Dance technique, Choreography,

 History & Culture. All students will study and practice the following:

 

STYLE: Hip-Hop

 

HISTORY, CULTURE, PURPOSE: Background on the various sub-genres of

Hip-Hop Dance Technique, pioneers in the dance/music genre, how Hip-Hop

 came to be, and the 4 Elements of Hip-Hop Culture- DJing, Emcee, Breakdance,

& Graffiti Art.

 

TECHNIQUE: Hip-Hop, Breakdance basics, Popping, Locking, Turf Dance & House.

Additional elements include: footwork, turns, slides, freestyle development

 and level changes.

-Body Conditioning & strength training

-Choreography/formation work (additional elements of dance &

performance training)

-Fusion element: How to mix various styles of dance together in one routine.

-Musicality: Not just dancing to counts or song lyrics. Learning how to feel and find

 the rhythms and sounds in the music, and learn to create choreography in that space.
